Tengri-Khan is a raider and a horseman who is used to getting what he wants. He is also a Prince and requires an heir to pass on the throne. Once Hurt by love, he vows to never fall in love again, becoming hard and ruthless. He finds his mate in Adama, but in order to make her his own, he must kidnap her.

Adama Fawkes, a princess of Lyros, is at an age where her mother the Queen is searching for suitors from which to choose a suitable husband, something Adama is against. She suddenly becomes a prisoner of the Tengri, is tortured, and forced to become his wife.

Tengri uses all his power to break Adama to his will, but at the same time he finds he is falling in love with her. Adama begins as a captive but becomes the wife of Tengri, giving herself over to him and the ways of his culture.

This was a very strange read. Although I liked the characters, I just could not like the way the storyline went. I felt it was a bit barbaric, yet understanding the author stayed true to the culture of the characters. I felt this was not a book for me, but others may enjoy what I could not.
