Steve Miller is an ex-LAPD cop turned top-notch advertising executive. He has worked hard to get where he is. In addition, he is looking forward to taking over the firm’s most prominent account when the veteran who oversees it retires in a few months. Steve is smart, sexy, and good at his job. He also has a sister he is close to and a bigoted father who was kicked off the Force for threatening his son because Steve was dating a black lady.

Mark Richfield comes aboard at the ad firm with a wry smile, an accent and a fiancé he is set to marry in a matter of weeks. He seems to have it all; a flashy car, a great house and a devoted roommate. He also has a heap of doubts about the direction of his life and the relationships he has.

When Steve and Mark meet there are immediate sparks; dislike, mistrust and irritation. However, when they become lost together, overnight in the desert, at a company retreat they discover the best way to stay warm is to indulge in a little ‘skin on skin’. Now they must deal with their emerging sexual feelings for each other. Plus deal with their families, co-workers and Mark’s up coming wedding to a woman he is not so sure he loves anymore.

While I found parts of Capital Games entertaining and well written, as a whole I was under-impressed. I felt the situations were fairly believable, but the emotions surrounding their relationship were rushed and unrealistic. I do not know any adults who cannot bear to be in the same room with someone one day then have sex with them the next. Plus the day afterwards declare their love and devotion to each other. The timeline was just a bit accelerated, and the manly ‘men’ were emoting like teenage girls. However, I will try this author’s other books as the narrative was promising.
