Kendra Bettencourt is an Assistant Medical Examiner. She has an interest in BDSM and in particular playing out some fantasies with Lucas Sloane, a local cop. However, she has no interest in emotional attachments since she recently lost her husband and grandfather.

Lucas Sloane is a cop and has definitely had his eye on Kendra for a while now. He also has an interest in BDSM and wants very much to get together with Kendra.

When bodies begin piling up in the small town of Canterville, both Kendra and Lucas know there is something very sinister going on. When it becomes apparent that each of the victims were into dangerous BDSM practices, the stakes mount even higher, and each realizes they have a serial killer on the loose. In the midst of their high stress jobs and trying to find a killer, Kendra and Lucas come together. But when Kendra tries to draw out a killer will she survive the attempt? Or will Lucas, who is beginning to have strong feelings for her, lose her forever?

Canterville: The Dead Speak is more suspense than romance. It is an interesting read for those who find the field of forensics fascinating. With graphic descriptions of cadavers and decomposing bodies, this book is not for the faint of heart. While I enjoyed the suspense aspect of this book, who does not love a good whodunit? I was a little disappointed that the relationship between the two main characters was not developed a bit more. Still, all in all, a good read and I plan on reading more from this author.
