Rating: 3 Cups
Meg returned to the Bay to heal and regroup after her daughter’s death. Though her career as a nurse is rewarding, she has always wanted to be a doctor, so she lives in her family’s holiday home working and saving money to that end. She has always loved this place, although not all of the memories are happy.
Dr. Sam Agostini has not been back to the Bay in years. Not since the summer he almost ended up in jail. His time of rebellion behind him, the successful doctor buys the holiday home of his childhood sweetheart and prepares to settle into his temporary job at the local hospital while his private hospital is being built. He is totally surprised to find Meg, his former best friend and first love, living as his tenant in his old home.
Childhood friends torn apart by Sam’s wild rebellion are reunited after thirteen years. During that fateful summer Sam broke the young Meg’s heart. He still loves her but she does not think that he loves her enough for forever.
Ms. Webber has written a very involving and fast moving romance. Sam is remorseful about his treatment of the girl who was both his best friend and first love. He does not know how to make it up to her. Meg has suffered the loss of her child and the breakup of a marriage that never should have occurred. Other than the loss of little Lucy, Sam’s behavior that summer in the past hurt her more that anything else in her life and she is reluctant to open herself up to that hurt again. Their story is very hard to put down.
