Leigh Hartley is going through a divorce, has a troubled teen on her hands and has just learned that her Aunt Charlotte passed away and left her Ravencrest. Now if that does make her want to scream, learning that she has to live there for six months to claim it almost does.
Paul Devlin, police detective, occult shy and falling fast for Leigh. While investigating a string of murders, he finds that the victims had something in common they looked like Leigh. Now, even though he is afraid of anything to do with the occult, he realizes that he has to face facts that it is all too real and Leigh and her daughter are in danger.
After moving back to her hometown with her teenage daughter, Leigh hopes that this change will be good for Rory and herself. She is worried when Rory starts showing interest in Tarot cards and the local legend of one of their ancestors, Amy Barrett. When she is hired by the local paper to work on the story, she teams up with Luke Rawlings, her fellow reporter and detective, Paul Devlin. Will this bring them all closer to danger or will they finally put an end to the legend?
Awesome, intriguing, and totally captivating, this story will have you most definitely biting your nails. From one moment to the next, you never know who the true killer is, though you may think you do. I found that the plot was well thought out and there were no gaps, making it flow smoothly. I loved how the characters themselves never knew for certain what would happen from one day to the next. This is a suspense-filled story and Ms. Lotempio has given us a story that will have you sleeping with the lights on.
