Contessa Morena Monterossa was born and raised in Bloodstone Castle. This is the place she is most happy, feels the safest, and really enjoys being. She is betrothed to Duke Ernesto of Sevona. Her father is away and she is left with only a hand full of guards and the castle staff for protection.

Duke Amoro Dragone wants to fulfill his father’s last request, which is that he should end the feud between his family and the Monterossas by marrying Contessa Morena. So he travels to Bloodstone castle to win her hand, and unite their two great families. There are only a couple of problems she will not see him, accept any of his gifts, and she is already betrothed to another man.

Amoro is a man used to getting what he wishes, and what he wishes is Morena. He manages to get into her castle, and from there proceedes to make her see his point of view. But nothing is easy when trying to persuade a stubborn willful woman to do as you wish her to. Morena fights him at every turn. But even with her mind telling her to stand strong against Amoro her heart has other ideas. Plus they have the added problem of Ernesto wanting to claim his betrothed, and steal her money for himself.

What a wonderfully tangled story this book turned out to be. Full of love, mystery, murder, and intrigue. This story is a wonderful blend of romance and suspense. The author pulls you into her story from the first few pages and keeps you hanging until almost the end of the book. The characters are so well written, that they leap off the pages at you. I was very surprised by this book. If murder, mystery, and romance is what you crave you’ll really enjoy this story.
