Sara Connelly has decided to make a change in her life. Finally having come to terms with her father’s death, she is ready to move on and realize her dream of owning her own ski resort.

Paul Sabine likes his life neat and orderly. Not particularly fond of change, Sara’s sudden decisions have knocked him for a loop. Paul finds comfort and salvation in Jesus, and can only hope that eventually Sara will share that joy with him as well.

From the beginning, Sara’s plans are interrupted. There is a murder on her property, the investigation, and then the ski company that is determined to buy her out. Sara’s long lost sister also shows up and long held secrets come to light. Will Sara become lost in the shadows of Escondido Ranch? Or will her faith be able to carry her through?

I had a difficult time getting into the story. It had an interesting plot and good pacing, but the characters fell flat for me, and I found the spiritual references jarring and a bit overblown. I just could not get involved with the mystery. Sara herself was somewhat lacking as a character, I was disinterested in her and thus disinterested in the story. An okay read.
