Dennis Radar looked like the normal everyday neighbor, with a job and wife and child, but he is much more. He may appear polite and quiet but on the outside he is a sadistic killer.
Kenny Landwehr works at a clothing store and attends WSU, Wichita State University. When thugs hog-tie him, holding him at gunpoint, he changes a course in his life.
Dennis has an obsession to follow and stalk women, especially victims who wear glasses. While driving the ADT van, he is able to keep an eye on all his intended victims. It was a good job, not to mention attending classes at WSU. The other time he spends with his wife and daughter. He always has a good alibi to inform his wife, Paula, of his whereabouts. After binding, torturing then killing his victims, he is dubbed the BTK. When Kenny first-hand sees cruelty, he begins studying about working with the FBI, hoping to be head of a homicide unit one day. Later, he joins forces with others with the abduction of Dennis, who always stays one step ahead. His clues have a way of frustrating the detectives, often leading them down the wrong path. They can only hope his obsession and need will one day miss a mark. With the help of Ken, who is now Lieutenant, and others working the case, Dennis is finally caught.
How one person can be so sadistic, so evil, is beyond me. The people who are entrusted to hunt these killers must have nerves of steel to endure all the tragic events that envelopes them daily. Not to mention witnessing what happens to the victims. I am sure it is hard to forget such embedded scenes in their mind. Bind, Torture, and Kill is an engrossing read. There were times the actions turned my stomach and made me ill to think someone that appears so polite off the street could turn into someone of massive destruction, even going into homes and tying up children, while harming the parent. Roy Wenzl, Tim Potter, L. Kelly and Hurst Laviana pen facts and details that made this reader feel a part of the tragedy the victims endure in this incredible read that leaves an impact.
