Lily Wharton is a self-made success. Her wallpaper company is flourishing and now she wants to help save her hometown by opening a factory in the defunct mill. She also wants to buy the mansion that her family lost after the crash of 29, but it all belongs to Declan Gates.

Declan has proved the people in Blackrock wrong. He got an education and has prospered beyond anyone’s imagining, but he has not been back in ten years. Lily is the only thing that could bring him back there.

Blackrock’s two most successful inhabitants are at odds over a closed run down mill and a forbidding mansion. Lily wants to breathe new life into the declining town, while Declan would be happy to see it all slide into the sea. He thought his attraction to Lily would fade over the years, but the chemistry between them is as strong as ever. There can be no future between the town’s golden girl and it’s black sheep or can there?

This is an enjoyable romance story with interesting characters and a plot full of conflict and misunderstandings. Lily is the town’s shining star, building a business from nothing and making it a success, but she is not as nice as she seems on the surface. She wronged Declan badly. Declan on the other hand, is not as bad as he would like the world to think. He is still hurting from his treatment in the past and still in love with Lily. Their romance is very rocky with many interesting twists and turns. Lily actually takes her company public to raise money for the factory and house, but that plan backfires. Declan has a lot of explaining to do and the reader will enjoy this one from beginning to end.
