Doctor Lillian Smythe is an obstetrician, and loves her job. She lives in her huge childhood home with several of her older family members. Lillian knows her family is slightly eccentric but she loved them that way. When Lillian gets a set of tarot cards for her birthday, she cannot believe the naked couples on the cards, one in particular is a handsome man with a sword, known as the king of swords, and while Lillian does not believe in those things, she would not mind meeting the king of swords.

Brent Kennedy is a detective her in Carey. Right now he wishes he was back in Florida. Brent has a bit of chip on his shoulder about people and trust; his past marriage does not help either. When Brent picks up an elderly lady for shoplifting, in her own store no less, Brent calls for her guardian. Overhearing Lillian’s talk about time of deliveries and other things; had him believing she might be a drug dealer. But then Brent trusts no one.

When Lillian goes and gets her aunt Grace again from the police station, she runs into her king of swords, literally. Lillian could not believe it and is instantly attracted. After Brent and Lillian start to date a bit, weird things start to happen. Things are going well with Brent and Lillian until Lillian overhears Brent say some very bad stuff about her. Brent has lost Lillian and does not know why. Can Brent fix things with Lillian and would they find out who is stealing the Smythes’s things?

A wonderful sizzling story that has humor, ghosts and thieves. These authors did a fabulous job of creating these characters, and you cannot help but fall in love with warm family of Lillian’s. Exceptional dialog, spicy love scenes and mild antics from a special ghost, will have you chuckling to yourself. Set at a steady pace you are enthused from the first page to the last. An unforgettable story.
