Calandra (Cali) Roland is head of the C. Roland Construction that will be working with the Military in Afghanistan to put up a power plant. Calie is married to her career and has sworn off men, especially after her last relationship. But when Cali meets the head of Engineering Major Pete Trayhern; she is instantly attracted, and dreaded the long two years ahead of having to work side by side with this man.

Major Pete Trayhern comes from a good family and he has a great career, but he has been unlucky at love. His mother says he will find the right one, but with Pete being in Afghanistan he does not see any hope of that. And then Pete sees Calandra Roland and he is attracted her immediately. But Pete has been hurt before and Cali seems to freeze him out anyway. But that does not keep Pete from thinking about Cali.

As the construction starts, Pete and Cali have all kinds of danger around them. The Taliban is everywhere and you could never know who is around that might be working with them. But Cali and Pete keep fighting them off as well as the attraction between them. When danger hits close to camp, it makes Pete start thinking about life and Cali. But could these two forget their past, and have a future?

Ms. McKenna always makes her stories entertaining and keeps you hooked and this one is no less. From the Taliban after them to sizzling attraction this couple keeps things hopping while they try to figure out their hearts. I love how Pete has such a good heart, that you fall in love with him yourself and Cali such a strong independent woman you have to admire. Steady dialog, fast paced action and romantic love scenes makes this another winner.
