Jaclyn Donnel fights the awful health care system the best she can while working in the ER. She keeps people at a distance. The one thing that keeps her going is that she does not want to see anyone else go through the pain that her father did before his death. Jaclyn never figured that she would have so much more to deal with.
Sam Allen tries to see the best in everyone. After all, he was able to clean his act up and became better for it. Now he hopes he can instill the same ideals into other kids. The beauty of Jaclyn blinds him, but she does not want to open up to him. He is not sure how he will balance work and romance but he is darn sure going to try!
The budget for the ER is already tight and when a new program that helps street kids is added, Jaclyn goes through the roof. Now Sam and Jaclyn must pull together in order for things to work out, but their attraction to each other tugs at them. They can only hope to save the world and not have the price be too high. A kiss from Sam is so good it makes Jaclyn dizzy and puts her in a tizzy. She is not used to having her world rocked by such a simple action.
Ms. King gives us a world that, although far from perfect, is livable and one where people truly do want to help others. I was impressed with Sam’s desire to help kids and Jaclyn’s doubt in their relationship. No two ways around it, love kept hitting them in the face every time they looked at each other. This is a sweet romance and I enjoyed it from the beginning until the end.
