Olivia Grace Stanford, Duchess of Lovingdon, learns her late husband’s will has left their home to Jack Dodger. Olivia feels the rake of a man should not even be inside her residence. When she hears that Jack is her five-year-old son, Henry’s, guardian and protector, she wonders what her husband was thinking.

Jack Dodger has always wanted more ever since he was a small boy living off the streets. Money was never enough for him, and always hungry, he searched for his next coin. Now, the once pickpocket, is owner of a gentlemens’ club and has inherited a London home.

Olivia married an older man to give him an heir. It was an arranged marriage and not one with romance. Now she learns her husband left Jack the London residence. It makes no difference that she finds the man deliciously wicked; she should not have to share her home. Just what relationship did Jack have with her husband? Jack is curious as to why he was left such an honor, and to share a home with an intriguing woman. She is a woman to be avoided at every cost. He should be the last person as protector of Henry, and she makes a point to say so. The chemistry becomes so strong between them; they wonder how long they can avoid the closeness of the other. Until Olivia learns the reason Jack was left in the will, she intends on safeguarding her heart.

What a devilishly, delicious romance. Olivia and Jack are as different as night and day, which makes this read so enjoyable. I love how their courtship slowly blossoms. I adore how he calls her Livy. Believe me, once you begin reading Between the Devil and Desire, and the passion of Olivia and Jack, you will not want to stop until everything is revealed. Lorraine Heath weaves a believable cast with emotions that explode. When she sketches Jack discussing the locket to Henry, the whole scene was touching. Jack swoons and makes the heart melt, and the love he and Olivia share is breathtaking. I love how Olivia is feisty and strong, almost vulnerable to his charm, in a tale that is splendidly told.
