Zoey Redbird, a hatchling vampyre, is leader of the Dark Daughters. Thanks to Nyx, the vampyre goddess, she has unique powers and lives at the House of Night.
Loren Blake, Vampyre Poet Lauriat, is not a full time professor. He is only there for one school year.
Eric Knight has been dating Zoey for the past month.
Zoey feels great in a home where she finally feels she belongs. She likes the new teacher, Loren, who has a smile that makes her heart flop. Then there is Eric who she thinks is nice and the hottest guy in school. As the new girl, she quickly learns not to let her guard down, especially when someone would like to take her place, just to please their parents. Things turn ugly when a missing human friend from Zoey’s previous life disappears. When another friend disappears and murder is involved, it points to the House of Night. Soon Zoey fears a terror she has never known. Danger lurks against the House of Night. Zoey needs her friend's help but so many things begin to mount against her; making her wonder who she can really trust.
Betrayed is a story that captivates and keeps the reader glued to the pages. Zoey is a fascinating character the way she handles the problems in front of her. There are phases she goes through like any teenager, but being a vampyre, she has more to contend with in her life. I thought it sweet the way she sort of swoons when she meets the professor. I found the episode with the parents heartbreaking but sometimes things like that happen. P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast create a wonderful read that keeps the reader entertained to the end. Now I wonder what they have in store for Zoey’s future.
