Jo is a war correspondent and news writer. She travels to wherever the danger and story made lead, living her life alone and she likes it that way. She does not want things like relationships to bog her down. However, this assignment in Sergavia has changed something inside her, especially after almost losing her life.
Craig is a fellow reporter that hails from America. He too loves the chase of the story, but has learned how not to let it keep him down with all the destruction he sees. He has an instant attraction to Jo, only it could be just adrenaline as they are trying to stay alive. Yet he still hopes even though Jo holds off.
Fighting to stay alive and recover films from her dead colleague, Jo and Craig find danger at every turn. But they also form a connection that cannot be denied. It reaches so deep within her soul it actually makes Jo want to confront her past secret in the hope that she may be able to be with Craig.
This is a very action packed story. War is something we all hope not to see but Ms. Perazzini has written it so you feel as if you are right in the middle of the action. I did enjoy the story, but I wish there was a touch more romance added in. Beneath The Surface has great characters and a very good storyline, you might want to take the time to read it.
