Juliana Mendoza is on one of her father’s ships headed for England to marry a man she did not want to. But because her mother would suffer for anything that goes wrong; Juliana did as she was told. But Julian had no idea the treachery of her father or what he does for a living, so when the slaves over-took the ship, and one man Patrick Maclean took head as captain, Juliana learned so much. But Juliana knows that even though the slaves had their rights to what they did, Juliana would escape when she could, no matter how much she is attracted to Patrick Maclean.
Patrick Maclean took the moment and went with it, now he was over a ship with the oarsman slaves helping. But Patrick had been sold to the Mendoza after the ransom sought for him is refused. Now Patrick is un-sure of his family or the path is he taking. All he knows is that he had to keep this ship headed to Scotland and his home Inverleith.
Patrick also had the Senorita Juliana on his mind, and try as he could; he did not know what to think of her or what to do with her. His mind said one thing but his heart another. And at that, Patrick is at an impasse.
As Patrick lands home, he is not sure what to expect, but his brothers seem genuinely glad he was home and there had been so many changes in the seven years he has been gone. As he makes a deal with the others to see them where they want to be, he takes Juliana on to his Iverleith, and there they became lovers. But there is danger to come, as the man Juliana was to marry now holds the ear of the Scotland Queen, how could Patrick possibly keep Juliana without bringing the whole country down on his family?
Astounding! This breathtaking story takes you on an adventure with a lady from Spain to the shores of Scotland all the while trying to piece together two people’s lives. This is the conclusion to Ms. Potter’s trilogy, and what a huge bang to go out with. Never once was there a dull moment in this beautiful story, as this reader kept going the tale instead of untangling it tangled further, and the more you think you know the less you do, I absolutely adored it. Excellent character buildup and a phenomenal plot combine with all the swashbuckling danger and intrigue really creates quiet a powerful shot. And that is not counting the spicy romance love scenes that fairly explode off the pages. I cannot say enough about this book except you will not be disappointed.
