B*E*A*S*T OF BURDEN
Paranormal/shape shifter/Contemporary Romance
Rating: 4 Cups
Marlie Silver is mourning the loss of her husband Matthew. Her family and friends are trying to get her to move on, particularly her friend Kevin, who would like to be more, but she is not ready to let go of Matthew just yet.
Rogan Wolfe has no memory of his life before B.E.A.S.T. kidnapped him, turned him into a shapeshifter and wiped his memories clean. He vaguely remembers a woman, and, when he escapes from the lab, he takes the information he finds on their computers to find out who he was before, a man named Matthew Silver.
A man without a memory returns to his home in the wilderness of Alaska to find that he still loves the woman he cannot remember. Returning home places her in danger as the organization that kidnapped him has sent their best enforcers after him and now her as well.
I really liked Rogan’s character in the last B.E.A.S.T. novel and like him even more now. He is a strong alpha male who remembers little of his past, but he has very strong feelings towards Marlie. Marlie is an equally good character. She is living a pretty lonely existence since the death of her husband, now suddenly he is back and bleeding on her dining room table and claiming he does not remember her. Wade is a pretty mysterious character, to himself as well as the reader; I would not mind reading more about him. The villains in this story range from brutal to devious, hitting all points in between, making this plot an exciting one with many twists and turns. Noah and his mate make an appearance in this story and some new shifters as well, making this a potentially long running series. I will read every one of them!
