Alvairo Baldomaro is a busy doctor and has no time for marriage. However, his adopted parents thought otherwise. His father goes to Australia to his friends' funeral and brings home his daughter, who has nowhere else to go.

Alaina has had a terrible life, and when Mr. Baldomaro takes her home, she knows it will only get worse. She has several problems that she tries to escape by attempting to commit suicide, more than once.

Alvairo and Alaina knew each other when they were younger. When they are reunited, the sparks fly, but it is a love/hate relationship, and not an endearing one.

I am sure that Ms. Safi put a lot of time and effort into this story. However, I had trouble following the story with the point of view changes in the middle of a paragraph and sometimes in the middle of a sentence. I did not like either of these people; they both had major character flaws and they hated each other almost until the bitter end.
