Evelyn Dixon’s life has been turned upside down. Her husband is divorcing her for a younger woman and now she is traveling north to New Bern, Connecticut. Once there, she discovers that she finally feels at home and decides to make her dream of owning a quilt shop a reality. Only it is a lot harder than she could ever imagine, especially when her health takes a sudden turn for the worse.
Abigail Burgess is the town everything. She is rich beyond measure and keeps many charities and businesses afloat with her charitable gifts. Yet, she is alone, no friends, no warmth in her life. Liza is Abigail’s niece who is caught shoplifting and ordered to be in her aunt's care; something neither of them wants. Margot Matthews is a marking whiz with a very strong faith in God. She loses her job and is glad she stumbled upon these women, who are now her friends.
Each of these women has a story and a past that must dealt with as their futures require much change for each of them. They need to find the strengths they have and dig deeply to reach and overcome the obstacles set before them. This strangely diverse group of women form a bond that just may let each become the woman she wants to be.
What a wonderful story of strength, character and friendship. Ms. Bostwick has written a story so touching that it pulls at your heartstrings and doesn’t let up till you finish these women’s stories. She takes you on a journey with them and allows the reader to feel the same emotions as these women do. With the obstacles each must face, you cannot help but wish for a happy ending in these women’s lives. If you need a wonderful book to touch you and maybe even change your future path, I highly recommend adding A Single Thread to your book collection.
