Martha Danvers was a state senator’s mistress until tragedy strikes, leaving her shattered. Heading to Camp Kinsonu she tries to get over the crushing blow.
Cindy finds some thong underwear in her bedroom that does not belong to her. She was certain her husband was no longer cheating; instead he confesses he is leaving her for Patty. He loves Patty, but not to worry, girlfriend Patty found just the right place for Cindy to go and cope with the situation. Ann is so broke she lives with her parents since her husband’s suicide and their financial ruin. She wishes she could have seen how bad his depression had grown. Her mother suggests she attend the Camp. Martha deeply loves Eldon. As the mistress of Vermont’s state senator, a shoe-in, for governor, she is torn when he is hospitalized for a stroke-induced coma. Martha enrolls in the camp wondering why she even bothered. A camp where the motto is Stronger Every Day, Stronger Every Way, connects the women to new opportunities and new acquaintances. After Cindy and Ann meet Patrick and Clive, it appears they learn new things that really give thought.
As Good As It Got is one unforgettable read. When Cindy heard that her husband’s girlfriend had found a support group for her to attend, I could practically visualize the layered expressions on her face. I believe I would have done a lot more than Cindy at the moment. I thought the role of Patrick and Clive, though minor, had a deepening impact to the story, especially for Cindy and Ann. I appreciate the way Isabel Sharpe pens all the elements in this entertaining story. She creates a sharp read that is quite satisfying.
