Cassandra Howard lives in Arizona in the year 1884. "Cassidy" is hired by her friend
Jake to transport gold through Apache territory into Mexico. While riding through the
Arizona desert, she gets shot in the back with an arrow by a band of renegade
Apaches. Trying to escape being captured, she heads her horse for a massive wind
storm which she is sucked into. Cassidy awakens to find herself recovering in a 21st
century hospital, wondering what happened to the year 1884.
Jesse White Feather is the sheriff of a small town. It seems that the arrowhead that
struck Cassidy has the markings of his Apache ancestors. Jesse is intrigued by
Cassidy, everything on her person is from the past. While trying to figure out the mystery
of Cassidy, Jesse also has to protect her from someone who is trying to harm her and
steal her gold.
While Cassidy is adjusting to all the changes in this time period, she also must cope
with someone trying to kill her. She finds herself falling in love with Jesse; a man who, in
her past, was considered an enemy due to his Apache blood. Jesse must find the
magic of his heritage, which he has forgotten in favor of a more analytical approach to
life. Through all this, Jesse has to convince Cassidy that she loves him enough not to
return to the past, but stay in the present.
Ms. Quinn has written a thrilling and captivating time travel romance. The hero and
heroine being stalked by a killer made the story even more exciting. Though this story
started out slow, it did pick up. The romance between these two characters was very
beautiful and heart wrenching. I look forward to reading more books by her.
