Tabitha March is a psychic dream interpreter who tries to help her clients come to terms with their dreams. Some of her clients are rare and then there are some that she cannot help.
Victoria is Tabitha’s mother who worries about her daughter, and takes a certain interest in Inspector Stocker.
Detective Nate Darling, much prefers being called Inspector instead of Detective Darling, who strikes some heated chords in Tabitha.
Inspector Bob Stocker steps in to talk to Tabitha when he feels Nate is getting a bit too involved with the lovely Tabitha.
Tabitha may be able to read dreams but she did not have anything to do with the woman that was killed, even though she knows what the woman was wearing. Nate visits Tabitha after a report of her committing possible fraud and solicitation. She is shocked at the accusation. She had just learned about a dead body but solicitation was not one of her forte and she is not too happy when she hears the real reason Nate has paid a visit. When he learns that she may have information on the recent homicide, he insists that she divulge any facts that will help the case. Of course getting details from her is like pulling teeth. In no time they try to fight the hidden urge they feel for the other. Even her mother believes she harbors feelings of love for Nate as does Inspector Stocker when he steps in as a go-between to ask some questions because Nate is getting a bit personal with the case. As Tabitha works to help the police find the data they need, someone is keeping a close eye on her. She finds Nate strikingly handsome, he finds her undeniably attractive, but someone wants her out of the picture and it is up to Nate to protect her as they are drawn into a spider’s web trying to get answers.
Arousing Suspicions is such a wonderful read that I treated myself to a second read of this captivating book. The superb dialogue between Nate and Tabitha, with some incredible wit blended in with the conversation made the whole story. For a moment it felt as if Nate and Tabitha were right in the center of the room. Marianne Stillings takes characters and breathes life into them making everything real. This lighthearted suspense caper incorporates impressible characters, some simmering sizzle between Nate and Tabitha, not to mention, Victoria and Inspector Stocker, that I was engrossed from the beginning to the end. The antics when Nate is trying to watch Tabitha’s back when she continues to fall into little pitfalls was a blast listening to them sparing. This is one extraordinary tale that is not only incredibly written but garners a 5 cup rating. Ms. Stillings pens a great worth-while read and has some wonderful recipes on her website.
