Love and War surround the brothers and when the rest of the Kane family join them in Texas there is more at risk than ever. Will their faith and belief in God help them through the threat of war and turmoil in their lives?

While I enjoyed the many historical facts and found the use of actual historical figures in the story a wonderful touch, I did not enjoy this book. I found the “one-size-fits-all“ religious tones off putting. I was insulted by the assertion that if one is not a “born again Christian”, one is not a “real” Christian. Particularly offensive to me is the inference that it is alright to own slaves as long as the slave owner had been “saved” and didn’t mistreat them. As a western it was a good read, but I cannot in good conscience recommend this book.
