AFTER THE KISS

Mass Market Paperback
Rating: 4 Cups
Lady Isabel Chalsey is one of the darlings of the Ton. She is beautiful, rich, and the daughter of a Marquis. It is no wonder that the Mayfair Marauder could not resist kissing her.
Sullivan Waring is also the child of a Marquis, albeit an illegitimate one. He is also a famous horse breeder and trainer and son of the famous artist Francesca Perrin. He is determined to recover the inheritance that the man who fathered him stole.
Though Sullivan has valid reasons for becoming a burglar, his method of revenging himself on his father is dangerous, particularly when he involves and falls for Lady Isabel. That determined lady hires him to train her horse and teach her to ride and their relationship may cost her reputation and him his life.
Ms. Enoch always writes very involving stories and this one is no exception. I really had a hard time putting this one down for any amount of time. The setting, Regency England, is brilliantly captured, from the glittering ball rooms to the Old Bailey. The characters are vividly drawn and Sullivan and Isabel’s love story had me riveted. I also liked the way the author depicted the very different family relationships. Isabel comes from a warm and loving family who genuinely care for each other and Sullivan and his friend Bram come from a very different kind of family. Bram is a complex character I would like to see more of. I really liked how Isabel’s brothers in particular stood by her. Isabel is an outstanding character who never gives in no matter what it costs her. Sullivan does feel sorry for himself a little too much from time to time, but pulls himself together in the end to make this story a happy one. Their adventures will definitely keep you turning the pages until the end.
