Dylan Stryker, a brilliant surgeon, loves his son Ben and will do anything for him. He works for the virtual surgery problem. There are only three neurosurgeons in the world that have the expertise to handle the intricate microscopic surgery. For three years he has prepared for the surgery on Ben and intends to be the one doing the operation.
Natasha Rudolph is a FBI agent. She does not do well in closed spaces, brought about by an accident from when she was younger. A hacker breaks into the system on the secluded estate in the Hamptons and Natasha must go underground to reinforce the firewall to make it stronger and secure. Not only does she need to remain calm and not panic from the enclosed space but also from being near Dylan.
Dylan will sacrifice everything for his son Ben who cannot walk without a computer driven-leg device. Three years ago Dylan’s wife was killed in a car crash, injuring Ben. He is certain that it was no accident and she was run off the road by another vehicle. Every year since the accident, the tabloids rehash the scene, saying he keeps his maimed son underground. Great lengths have been taken to cover up Ben’s survival but sometimes rumors are leaked. Natasha is sent on the difficult assignment which is twelve feet underground. However, she never considered feeling such compassion for Dylan and his son. She takes her job seriously and Dylan believes that is what draws her to him. It appears someone has targeted Natasha for revenge and intends on stopping Dylan. With danger threatening, time is running out for Dylan to implant the fibers and the microfibers into Ben’s legs before the nerves that control his legs die, leaving his son confined to a wheelchair the rest of his life.
A Father’s Sacrifice goes above and beyond, as a father unselfishly does anything for his loved one. This moving tale is loaded with action and suspense. The chemistry of Dylan and Natasha comes off beautifully once they are introduced. I love how they slowly build a trusting relationship. I liked the fact she was a strong agent but underneath, still a woman with fears that she needs to conquer. I thought being around Ben was therapeutic for her. A good plot with some twists and turns, and troubled past allowing hearts to be repaired, makes this a stunning good read. Mallory Kane draws some refreshing characters, a precious boy, who grabs at the readers heart, and creates a read that is not only well-written, but makes one feel that with some powerful love, miracles can happen.
