Dotsy Lamb and her friend Lettie are able to get together once a year. This year they are taking on a trip to Italy. Dotsy is ready to experience everything there is to see and do and add culture to her life. The last thing she expected was a murder to take place on her dream trip.
Almost everyone in the tour group, including the tour guide, may have a motive for killing Meg Bauer. But each person is doing their best to keep those reasons to themselves. But eventually someone, hopefully the murderer, will let something slip.
Dotsy begins investigating on her own without telling Captain Quattrocchi of the carabinieri. As she uncovers bits and pieces of information that she thinks may be of help, she teams up with the captain and together they bounce their ideas off one another. They make a good team until the captain finds out about some of the things Dotsy has not told him. But without her help, will the killer be caught or will they walk away?
Ms. Hudgins weaves clues throughout the story that will lead you to believe you know who the killer is. I loved how even with the clues, the reader is never able to ascertain who exactly committed the crime. I was left wondering until the very end of the story. This is a mystery that should be on every crime lovers shelf.
