Marta is traveling on Christmas Eve with her two children to visit her parents in Asheville, North Carolina. She is going through a bitter divorce and not at all in the holiday spirit. Andy is a recent widower who lost his wife to cancer just six months ago. He is a Vietnam vet traveling to Asheville to visit an old friend and comrade who is dying.
John is a wealthy businessman who has spent his entire life trying to be a huge success and follow in his father’s footsteps. He does not spend that much time with his wife and daughters. He is troubled by the sudden death of his father. Ilena is a solider stationed in Iraq, who is home on a leave. She cannot find comfort in that and feels guilty for leaving her fellow soldiers behind to fight in the war. Reggie is a middle-aged man who has just lost his job and his pension. Now, with his future uncertain, he is very bitter, and takes a job working with his son.
These travelers are all going to the same destination, yet the weather and maybe the fates are making the trip nearly impossible. With flights grounded, they take another chance to get to their families by going with Lisa, a Good Samaritan. What happens this night will change all their perspectives on their own situations and on life in general. With Amelia, another passenger, they will each find their own Christmas miracle.
A Christmas Passage is a heartwarming story of many lives that cross paths. Without something interfering, they would have never met. Yet this group did, and found out more about themselves and each other. Wonderful characters show many sides of themselves and bring you into their story very easily. This story by Mr. Saperstein and Mr. Samerjan is one that will make you believe in miracles.
